Help us reach our goal of raising $530 to fully fund the remainder of Khadijah's secondary education!
Khadijah attends school at Kenyetta University in Nairobi, Kenya. She was invited to attend the public university after doing extremely well in high school. She is pursuing a bachelor of science in environmental education in the school of environmental studies. After graduation, her dream is to work with an international organization that deals with environmental conservation. She is passionate about this cause because she grew up in a family that engaged up in charcoal burning and poaching. Her community has seen the negative effects of climate change and she wants to be part of the solution in mitigating climate change.
This is the third year Khadijah has received a scholarship through the GROW program. During her first year at University, she specifically enjoyed gaining awareness of the environment as a whole, and thinking about how to solve the challenges it faces. With this scholarship, she got the opportunity to participate in activities such as community clean–up, tree–planting, and spreading awareness to the community at environment day events. Khadijah expresses her gratitude to her previous scholarship sponsors for the opportunities they have given her, and for all the work they've done to help other girls in need. Now she needs your help again.
"From the background I come from, there is a high poverty level and girls are forced into early marriage rather than improving their life through education – hence this has given me motivation to attend school to be able to come out of the vicious cycle of poverty. I will be able to raise my living standards through education and any monetary value that I get from the job enables me to change my livelihood and that of the community" - Khadijah
With YOUR help, we can send Khadijah to school for another year! 100% of your donation goes directly to Wildlife Works as a grant to allow her to attend school.
Consider making a monthly gift. When you give just $40 monthly, you can ensure Khadijah or another girl in Kenya has a permanent scholarship until she graduates.
GROW (Girls' Right to Opportunity Worldwide), a signature project of GreaterGood.org, is dedicated to improving girls' well being by supporting and monitoring innovating projects that identify and remove barriers to girls' education across the globe.
About Wildlife Parks:
Wildlife Works' mission is to bring market–based solutions to conservation of biodiversity by providing sustainable economic benefits to rural communities so they can aspire to a better life or simply feed their children and put them through school without damaging the environment in which they live.
GreaterGood.org has ultimate authority and discretion with regard to the distribution of its funds. All expenditures made are consistent with the exempt purposes of GreaterGood.org.
At Wildlife Works, the mission is clear: to provide people in wildlife-rich areas with sustainable economic alternatives to poaching and deforestation. When you buy a Wildlife Works product, you become an agent for conservation, and are wearing the brand that says you won't sit quietly while the last wild things in the last wild places disappear forever.
GreaterGood Network is proud to partner with Wildlife Works to bring you our special selection of high quality, conservation-minded products. Each exclusively designed garment is produced in Kenya at the Rukinga Sanctuary's fair-trade and carbon neutral EcoFactory in the Kasigau Corridor. This partnership creates jobs for the local population, which in turn ensures they can feed their families and send their children to school without relying on the destruction of crucial habitat -- home to such endangered species as Grevy's Zebra, Cheetah, Lion, African Wild Dog, as well as over 2,000 African Elephants.
