Every year, thousands of pets are surrendered back to shelters because owners are unable to care for them, causing overcrowded shelters. These owners love their pets, but due to behavior issues, housing issues, or lack of time at home with their pet, they bring them back to the shelter as their only solution. This is a growing issue in Young-Williams, causing the shelter to be at full capacity with no room for animals that are still living on the streets.
Young-Williams Animal Center in Knoxville, Tennessee has a pet resource center where struggling owners can get counseling to help find a solution for them. When owners come in to surrender their pets, they’re referred to this center to try to understand and resolve the problem. But this center is in need of upgrades.
That's why GreaterGood.org's Rescue Rebuild program is stepping in to help. This fall, Rescue Rebuild will create a brand new pet resource center for Young-Williams Animal Shelter. This new space will significantly expand their pet resource center and provide space to counsel more owners, provide more to the community, and keep pets in their home. Best of all, this will open up more room for homeless pets who are in desperate need of shelter.
With your help, we can change the lives of thousands of pets keeping them out of cages and in their homes where they belong. Opportunities like this are important in all communities and in animal welfare.
You can help. Your donation will help Rescue Rebuild create a new pet resource center to keep pets in their loved homes, make room for homeless animals in need, and ensure that even more will soon find their forever home!
