One of the biggest expenses for shelters and rescue groups is feeding animals in their care. For many rescues, after food costs, they have little or nothing left in their budget for medical treatment, vaccines, or other adoption programs. That's where GreaterGood.org's Rescue Bank program comes in — we ship donated food to rescue groups around the country to make sure their animals are fed, and that they have extra money in their budget to help pets in desperate need — pets like Lieutenant Dan (pictured here).
When Lieutenant Dan was found, his back legs were wrapped in barbed wire, causing his legs to be necrotic and infected. But even with his pain and immobility, he was resilient and loving on all of the people around him. His legs had to be amputated, and he is waiting to receive his prosthetics specifically made for him. Without special treatment, he wouldn't be able to live a normal life. With the help from GreaterGood.org's Rescue Bank program, Nashville Humane Association were able to budget their money for special needs animals like Lieutenant Dan and feed the pets in their shelter without a worry.
GreaterGood.org has ultimate authority and discretion with regard to the distribution of its funds. All expenditures made are consistent with the exempt purposes of GreaterGood.org.
I love all the help greater goods as well as others who help animals. I do all I can but wish I was a billionaire so I could give a billion plus to help every animal possible. Makes me choke up knowing the countless number of furbabies that are still in need. But these wonderful souls that are doing all they can to rescue as many as possible, makes my heart sing as well
