Most homeless animals have been through traumatic experiences. Sadly, once inside a shelter or rescue group, their trauma may not easily go away. At some shelters animals live in outdoor kennels, exposed to the elements. Inside shelters, dogs sleep on cold cement floors, and cats are restricted to wire cages. These dogs and cats are miserable, lonely and cold. These environments cause animals immense stress, which can compromise their immune system. City and County shelters have no budget for comfort items. Rescue groups are also strapped for cash to purchase food, bedding and toys.
No pets should ever have to go hungry, be uncomfortable, or suffer. Studies show and experts agree that shelter animals with blankets and comfort items make them calm, feel safe and secure. Operation Blankets of Love helps alleviate their suffering by donating comfy, soft, and fluffy blankets, and toys to shelters across the U.S. They donate to hundreds of rescue groups a year - providing them with food, bedding, toys, and critical pet items. This improves the homeless animal's quality of life, by helping them become more outgoing and affectionate. This increases their chances of adoption and reduces euthanasia!
You can help. Just $5 helps support shelter animals by providing food and comfort items to help them get adopted!
Operation Blankets of Love is a 501(c)3 organization. Their mission is to improve the well-being of homeless animals and increase their chances of survival and adoption. They believe that no animal should be abused, neglected or abandoned, spending its existence in fear, pain and hunger, but instead have the right to live a life filled with love and compassion.
